CHILLICOTHE — Crooksville senior Grace Frame had to put the disappointment of the softball team losing behind her quickly on Wednesday.

Frame rushed from Chillicothe Unioto to Chillicothe Southeastern to compete on the first day of the Division III regional track and field meet.

Frame's toss of 38-feet-6 was enough to claim the shot put title by 1/2 inch over Frankfort Adena's Sydney Foglesong, who was second with 38-5 1/2.

The Ceramics did not have anyone else reach the running finals, as the top eight will run on Friday. Blaze Hunter, Gage Frash, Jacob Hammer and Alex Sandefur posted the 11th quickest time in the 4x400 (3:47.07), while Nathan Ferguson, Frash, Hammer and Hunter were 13th in the 4x200 (1:36.81) and 16th in the 4x100 (47.69). Hunter also had the 13th fastest time in the 300 hurdles (44.63).

In Division III at Massillon Perry, Rosecrans' Emily Backus had the 13th fastest time in the 100 (13.98), but did not reach the finals as only the top eight advanced.

West Muskingum's Carlee Hankinson failed to clear the opening height of 4-foot-8 to finish in the final spot.

In Division I at Pickerington North, Tri-Valley's Beau Priest was 13th in the boys discus (133-6) and Mackenzie Harvey came in 14th in the girls shot (31-7 1/2), while Jordan Martin of Zanesville finished 14th in the boys long jump (19-4) to highlight area field competitors.

Sheridan's 4x800 of Cooper Winders, Simon Conrad, John Skinner and Tate Ruthers was 13th (8:46), while the 4x400 of Winders, Reed Coconis, Andon Hamner and Conrad was 15th (3:42.24).

Zanesville's Robert Guest came in 13th in the 110 hurdles (16.78) and 15th in the 300 hurdles (42.55), Dean Johnson was 15th in the 200 (23.98), and the 4x100 of Martin, Johnson, Dominique Tracey and Xavier Steger-Sowers was 15th (45.99).

Tri-Valley's girls 4x100 of Sophie Sands, Kiana Reynolds, Molly Spiker and Katherine Martin were 15th (53.09), while the boys 4x100 and 4x200 did not compete.
