TRACK AND FIELD: Records fall for area athletes at Crawford Invitational

May 2—NORTH ROBINSON — Area athletes broke seven meet records on Friday at the 10-team Colonel Crawford Bob Royer Invitational held Friday night.

The South Central boys placed third, followed by Western Reserve and Plymouth in fifth and sixth. Host Crawford scored 142 points to win the boys title, followed by Upper Sandusky (99.5) just ahead of the Crimson Flashes (98.5).

The Willard girls also placed third (98.5 points) and South Central was fourth (83.5).

Leading the area boys highlights was Plymouth sprinter Caiden Allen. He won the 100-meter dash in a meet record time of 11.43 seconds, then broke the meet record in the 40-meter dash in 4.94 seconds.

Also breaking a meet record on the boys side was Western Reserve's Jacob Jarrett and South Central's David Lamoreaux.

Jarrett took down the mark in the 110 hurdles in 16.24 seconds. He also won the 300 hurdles (43.21). Lamoreaux broke the long jump record with an effort of 20-feet-9.25.

Also for South Central, Mason Kiesel won the discus (113-feet-6) and was second in the shot put (44-feet-9.5). The 4x200 relay team won in 1:37.63 and the 4x400 relay team took second (3:39.62). Trey Beverly took second in the 400 dash (53.74), while Carson Music was third in the 100 (11.77) and the high jump (5-feet-8).

Willard's Javier Lopez won the 1600 run (5:00.33) and was second in the 800 (2;09.22). His teammate, Trenton Rupert, won the 400 (52.16), and the 4x800 relay placed second in 9:05.88.

Also for Western, the 4x200 relay was second (1:39.19), as was Jonathon Fisher in the 200 (23.82). Aiden Beck was third in the 300 hurdles (44.99), as was the 4x100 relay team (47.9).

GIRLS

Three meet records fall

Pacing Willard's finish on the girls side was McKenna Stephens, who won the 400 dash in a new meet record time of 1:01.10, and took third in the high jump (4-feet-8).

The 4x400 relay team for Willard also claimed first in a meet record time of 4:17.22. The 4x200 relay team also took first (1:54.45), while Destiny Rose swept the 800 (2:26.57) and 1600 (5:37.51) for the Crimson Flashes.

Placing second for Willard was Layla Dials in the 800 (2:27.8) and Allison Silcox in the 40 (5.81). The 4x100 relay placed third (56.29).

For South Central, Onalee Keysor broke the meet record in the pole vault when she cleared 9-feet-6. Angela Williams won the 200 (27.18) and was third in the long jump (15-feet-7.75), and the 4x100 relay team took first in 54.07.

Grace Lamoreaux was second in both the 100 hurdles (16.1) and 300 hurdles (50.99), while Claire Osborn was second in the shot put (34-feet-8.5) and third in the discus (103-feet-3). The 4x200 relay team placed second (1:57.01).

Plymouth's Mallory Keefe won the 40-meter dash in 5.74 seconds and placed third in the 100 (13.68) and 200 (28.41). Western Reserve's Aliyah Perez was second in 400 (1:02.99).

Monroeville girls third, St. Paul fourth at Mapleton

ORANGE TWP. — The Monroeville and St. Paul girls placed third and fourth, respectively, at the 10-team Mapleton Night Invitational on Friday at John E. Camp Stadium.

The Eagles had three first-place finishers, which included Delaney Giles in the 100 hurdles (17.62), Reece Kluding in the high jump (5 feet) and Stacey Legg in the long jump (15-feet-3.25).

Legg was second in the 100 dash (13.41), and McKenna Dunlap was second in the 300 hurdles (52.5). Braylee Wise was third in the shot put (33-feet-7.5) and fourth in the discus (102-feet-7).

Also for Monroeville, the 4x100 team of Giles, Kluding, Dunlap and Legg placed third in 56.3 seconds.

St. Paul had a pair of relay teams finish in first place. The 4x200 relay of Abbie Stine, Sydney Endsley, Geralyn Mutchler and Sarah Matlack won in 1:56.55, while the 4x400 team of Stine, Ella Wangler, Endsley and Matlack also placed first in 4:24.84.

Earning second for St. Paul was Matlack in the 400 (1:02.4), and Megan Lesch in the 1600 (5:43.71) and 3200 (12:40.43). Maddy McCall was third in the 3200 (12:46.45) and Megan Leibold was fourth in the shot put (32-feet-4.75).

For the St. Paul boys, the 4x800 relay of Ian Deeter, Ryan Gross, Nick Centa and Isaac Thimke placed second in 8:43.

Finishing third was the 4x200 team of Caleb Schwan, Alex Wynn, Sam Scavuzzo and Ethan Nolan in 1:40.11 and the 4x400 team of Schwan, Deeter, Thimke and Nolan in 3:42.43. Schwan was also third in the 400 (54.73).

Edison boys third, girls fourth at Margaretta

CASTALIA — It was another top-half finish for the Chargers on Friday at the Margarita Invitational in Castalia.

The Edison boys scored 106 points to finish third in the 10-team field behind Huron and Firelands. The girls team finished fourth among the 10 teams.

Four individuals took first place for the Edison boys, led by Garrett Scott in both the 110 hurdles (16.27) and 300 hurdles (42.12). Aidan Anderson won the 3200 run (10:18.54), Andrew Harper had the top throw in the shot put (40-feet-3.75) and Dylan O'Dell won the high jump by clearing six feet.

Harper was also third in the discus (126-feet-6) and O'Dell was third in the long jump (18 feet).

Also for the Edison boys, Cole Weilnau was second in the 800 (2:05.27), James Kryger was second in the pole vault (10-feet-6) and Gabe Schirg was third in the 3200 (10:54.38).

The Edison girls had a pair of relay teams claim first place, including the 4x800 relay team of Haley Chaput, Peyton Facemire, Lindsay Sneider and Abby Lesniak in 10:17.47. The 4x100 relay of Lydia Woodyard, Morgan Moon, Tannah Vitaz and Autumn Gessling also claimed first in 54.5 seconds.

Individually, Lesniak won the 3200 (11:33.84), Rachel Klepper was second in the 300 hurdles (50.57), as was Katelyn Jeremay in the pole vault (9 feet). Placing third was the 4x400 relay of Torri Keyser, Lesniak, Klepper and Jayla Medina (4:22.73), and Keyser was third in the 100 hurdles (17.69).

Norwalk competes at Berea Relays

BEREA — The Norwalk boys and girls track and field team competed in the 14-team Berea Titan Relays on Friday against mostly Division I programs.

Among the top finishers for the Truckers included the boys 800 sprint medley relay team of Mkovik Petersen Jaden Beatty, Noah Kluding and Mason Hainline, who placed fifth in 1:40.66.

Also for the Norwalk boys, Kyler Kromer was seventh in the 3200 (10:21.48) and Carson Bauman was seventh in the pole vault (12 feet). Shyanne Moser placed seventh in the discus throw relay at 86-feet-7.
