Track & field state finals: Complete results for the Blue Water Area

Michigan's top high school track & field athletes gathered across five locations for the 2022 MHSAA state finals on Saturday.

Two competitors from the Blue Water Area took home individual state titles — Marine City's Lindsay Girard in the Division 2 girls long jump for and Richmond's Evan Green in the Division 3 boys 400 meters.

Here are the complete results for local athletes.

DIVISION 1

Port Huron Northern had four Huskies compete in the Division 1 state meet — Maya Freeman, Lilly Knowlton, Maggie Monaghan and Jayde Ullenbruch.

Monaghan placed fourth in the girls long jump with a distance of 17.5 feet. She also received All-State honors.

Knowlton tallied 4.11 feet in the girls high jump while Freeman's throw in the girls shot put went 31.3 feet.

DIVISION 2

Marine City's Lindsay Girard was the state champion in the girls long jump with a personal record of 17.7 feet.

Fellow Mariner Carly Frank placed fifth in the girls high jump with a leap of 4.11 feet. Teammate Kyle Smalstig was 11th in the boys shot put at 47.5 feet.

In the boys 800 meters, St. Clair's Sam Vitale finished 13th with his own record time of 1:59.99. Teammate Colton Proctor placed fifth in the boys 300-meter hurdles at 40.41 seconds. He was also 12th in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.08 seconds.

Vitale was part of the Saints' 4x800 relay team along with Connor Kreger, David Harris and Carter Boullard. They posted a finish of 8:14.28.

St. Clair's Kai Pennewell placed 12th in the boys discus with a heave of 135 feet.

Marysville's Janae Hudson finished third in the girls discus with a throw of 131.4 feet. The sophomore also placed 10th in shot put at 35.5 feet.

Fellow Vikings Reese Powers and Hannah Fisher each finished in the top 20 for the girls 800 meters. Powers placed ninth with a time of 2:21.28 while Fisher came in 16th at 2:25.24. Additionally, Fisher finished 15th in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:16.74.

Powers and Fisher were also part of Marysville's 4x400 relay team. That group, which included Alanna Dedenbach and Lauren Wilson, posted a time of 4:11.39.

Another Viking, Kaylee Smith, placed 10th in the girls pole vault with her own record of 9.9 feet. Teammate Ashley Utter was 15th in the girls long jump at 15.8 feet.

Marysville's Brock DenUyl set a personal record with a time of 9:40.09 in the boys 3,200 meters.

Armada's 4x400 relay team of Claire Sniesak, Brooklyn Khon, Alayna Nowik and Mikayla Nowik came in seventh with a finish of 4:09.38.

On the boys side for the Tigers, Easton Vyt was 12th in the high jump at 5.11 feet.

Croswell-Lexington's Eva Thompson set a personal record and finished 10th in the girls 3,200 meters with her time of 11:20.68. Teammate Morgan Newton placed 13th in the girls 800 meters at 2:24.08.

Both were part of the Pioneers' 4x800 relay team which included Abagayle Barkley and Elizabeth Baldwin. That group finished with a time of 10:13.52.

Two BWAC athletes competed in the boys pole vault. Yale's Luke Kecskes finished at 12.10 feet and Cros-Lex's Robert Loomis leaped 11.8 feet.

DIVISION 3

Richmond's Evan Green was the state champion in the boys 400 meters with his own record time of 49.79 seconds. He also finished 10th in the boys 100 meters at 11.33.

Additionally, Green was part of the Blue Devils' 4x200 relay team along with Kevin McKiernan, Tanner Bastian and Joseph Pacitto. They placed 12th with a finish of 1:33.62.

Algonac's Trevor Bottle set a personal record and placed fifth in the boys pole vault with a leap of 13.3 feet.

Devin Johnston of Almont finished second in the girls 200 meters with a time of 25.71 seconds. The junior placed seventh in the 100 meters at 13 seconds as well.

Johnston was also part of the Raiders' 4x100 relay team along with Paige Feldman, Montserrat Coronel and Chloe Brady. That group posted a time of 52.82.

Feldman finished with a leap of 4.9 feet in the high jump. Teammate Molleigh Rinke totaled a distance of 92.3 feet in the girls discus.

Almont's Drew VanDyke placed 10th and set a personal record in the boys discus with a throw of 137.1 feet. Teammate Chase Battani finished ninth in the boys pole vault at 12.9 feet. He also finished with a time of 45.33 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.

The Raiders' 4x100 relay team of Tim Miller, Nolan Maxlow, Thomas Dyer and Mason Smith finished with a time of 45.93.

DIVISION 4

Cardinal Mooney's Tyler Lenn set a school record and finished fourth in the boys 800 meters with a time of 2:02.07. He also notched a personal record and placed eighth in the 1,600 meters with a finish of 4:36.11. Teammate Matthew Zammit Jr. was 10th at 4:41.75.

Both were part of the Cardinals' 4x800 relay team that included Isaac Zammit and Jack Luzynski. They posted a school record and placed ninth with a finish of 8:36.40.

On the girls side, Cardinal Mooney's Gabriela Gashaj set a school record in the 200 meters with a time of 28.13 seconds. She also finished ninth in the long jump at 15.6 feet.

John Schoen of Capac placed 10th in the boys 800 meters at 2:03.42. The Chiefs also had Abigail Aldrich finish ninth in the girls shot put with a heave of 34.4 feet.

Capac's 4x100 girls relay team included Julianna Closurdo, Aria Nealy, Bella Wetter and Gracie Klink. That group posted a time of 56.06.

Olivia Findlay of Marlette finished second in the girls high jump at 5.3 feet. The sophomore also placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16.1 feet. Teammate Lily Parker was 12th in the girls shot put (32.7 feet) and 13th in the girls discus (87.2 feet).

The Red Raiders' 4x100 relay team consisted of Emma Woods, Adilyn Ruggles, Lily Lemanski and Patricia McIntee. They finished with a time of 55.7 seconds.
