Track reading minutes, win prizes during Ashland library summer program

Ashland Public Library invites all ages to come together through reading and activities through Aug. 5. Patrons can sign up for the All Together Now: Summer Reading Challenge one of three ways:

  • Online at ashlandoh.beanstack.org

  • By downloading the Beanstack app from the App Store or Google Play

  • Stopping by the Public Services desk at the library

It’s easy to get started with the Beanstack app. Simply create an account, find your library, select the All Together Now: Summer Reading challenge, and start logging. Keep track of minutes and help reach the community goal of 1,000,000 minutes.

Reading and completing activities will earn participants a digital badge and a sticker for their badge book. Complete all of the reading and activity badges to earn a collectable Reading is My Superpower enamel pin and sticker. Patrons will earn tickets that can be placed into a drawing for the chance to win one of the grand prizes. Grand prizes range from a variety of gift certificate bundles, toys and exciting experiences. To view all of the grand prizes get started on Beanstack or stop in to the library.

Eight programs at Guy C. Myers bandshell

The library also hosts countless events and programs throughout the community during the summer. Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. library staff will host a special performance at the Guy C. Myers Memorial Bandshell at Brookside Park. There are eight programs for all ages with topics like music, animals, magic and more.

The library will partner with multiple organizations to help bring family fun to the Ashland Community. StoryWalk Ashland, the reading trails located in some Ashland County parks, have returned. Find StoryWalks at Freer Field and Byers Woods. There is a special StoryWalk along Main Street in downtown Ashland.

The library will again be at United Way of Ashland County’s Fun Fridays where the bookmobile will be with fun giveaways, materials to check out, and summer reading supplies. Ashland Chautauqua programs will be happening with special programs at the library for multiple age ranges.

Touch-A-Truck, the annual wrap -up to summer reading, will move locations this year. On Aug. 5, a portion of Main Street will be closed off to accommodate even more vehicles. Kids of all ages are invited to climb on, sit behind the wheel of and explore a variety of vehicles, many from local businesses and organizations.
