Track Roundup: John Glenn girls second at Heath; Philo girls fourth at Warren

HEATH — The John Glenn girls fell short of the team title on Saturday, as their 95.5 points were second to first-place Fairfield Union's 101.5 in the Hank Smith Invitational at Heath High School.

Chelsea Sotherden won the shot put with a distance of 37-feet-2 and took second in the discus (118-6) and Brayden Snider claimed the pole vault with a height of 11-6 to lead the Muskie girls.

Kara Fields took second in the 100 hurdles (15.47) and 300 hurdles (47.99), Kira Kaiser finished second in the 800 (2:28.98), Raya Taylor placed second (4-10) and Ava Hoffman third (4-10) in the high jump, Mya Warner was third (15-5 1/2) and Hoffman fourth (15-5) in the long jump, and Brooklyn Valentine tied for fourth in the pole vault (8-6) to highlight other top finishers for the John Glenn girls.

The Sheridan girls were sixth (61) and Zanesville 16th (2), while the John Glenn boys came in ninth (39), Sheridan 12th (23) and Zanesville 14 (7.5) to round out area teams.

Beckett Strong won the 400 (59.78) and finished third in the 100 (13.17) and Rilea Waite took second (35-5 1/2) and Lily Dennis fourth (34-3 1/2) in the shot to lead the Generals girls. Grace Householder added a fourth in the 1,600 (5:41), Siennah Ramirez, Strong, Claire Shriner and Kenzi Perkins placed third in the 4x400 (4:22) and fifth in the 4x200 (1:53.74), Dennis came in fourth in the discus (108-9), Perkins tied for fourth in the high jump (4-8) and Shriner was fifth in the 100 hurdles (16.74).

Caiden Lake finished third in the 1,600 (4:41), Cameron House came in third in the 400 (52.72), Ian Davis, Carson Clouse, Tanner Caudill and Lake placed fourth in the 4x800 (8:52), Cash Smith finished fourth in the 110 hurdles (15.94) and pole vault (12-0), and House, Lake, Caudill and Will Nicolozakes were fourth in the 4x400 (3:41.88) for the Muskies.

Tate Ruthers finished third in the 3,200 (10:10), Simon Conrad was fourth in the 1,600 (4:43) and Cooper Winders placed fourth in the 300 hurdles (43.8) for the Sheridan boys, while Camron Willett placed fifth (16.84) and Robert Guest sixth (17.6) in the 110 hurdles to highlight the Blue Devils' effort, and Ireland Park placed seventh in the 100 (13.53) for the Lady Devils.

Philo girls fourth at Warrior Invite: The Electrics tallied 62 points to finish behind Logan's 139, Warren's 100 and Athens' 98.5 in the Warren Warrior Invitational at Vincent.

The Morgan girls came in sixth (47.5) and New Lexington ninth (29), while the Philo boys were fifth (56.5), Morgan eighth (33) and New Lex 13th (13).

Aleigha Busse, Anna Stutes, Makenna Staker and Halli Harris won the 4x200 (1:52.39), Stutes took second in the 100 (13.6), Harris was the runner-up in the 200 (28.43) and fourth in the 400 (1:05.69), Staker placed third in the 300 hurdles (50.34) and Jenna Lytton came in fourth in the 1,600 (5:45) to pace the Philo girls.

Aidan Mahon won the 400 (52.77), while placing second in the long jump (19-11) and fifth in the 200 (24.39) to pace the Philo boys. Alex Evans added a third in the 300 hurdles (43.85), Kyler Nader, Zack Savage, Ethan Wickham and Shaun Boyd were fifth in the 4x100 (47.09), and Nader, Corgan Goldean, Evans and Boyd placed fifth in the 4x200 (1:38.75).

Odessa Smith won the 100 hurdles (15.51), 300 hurdles (46.93) and long jump (17-3), Daicy Hodge, Aleah Bogue, Shannon Cooper and Smith came in third in the 4x400 (4:32.89) and Bogue took fourth in the 200 (29.29) to lead the Raider girls, while Kyle Campbell captured the 100 (11.49) and 200 (23.24), Adam Cooper was fourth in the 300 hurdles (45.44), and Braylon Miller, Cooper, Hayden Bankes and Campbell finished fourth in the 4x100 (46.19) to pace the Morgan boys.

Nora DuPerow won the 100 (13.49) and 200 (28.18) and teamed with Jocelynn Bowen, Emma Rose and Moreh Longhenry for third in the 4x100 (54.47) for the Panther girls, while Carson Kellogg, Chase Dumolt, Mason Klingler and Lucas Scott took third in the 4x200 (1:36.16) and Dumolt was sixth in the 400 (55.84) for the boys.

Lacrosse

Big Walnut 11, John Glenn 10: Visiting Big Walnut tallied a goal in overtime to slip past John Glenn.

The Muskies did not possess the ball in overtime and the Golden Eagles scored the winning goal with 1:23 left in the first overtime period.

Cannon Fox tallied a team high four goals, with one assist., while senior Ethan Haney scored a pair of goals with two assists Clay Hanna added 3 goals. Evan Haney chipped in with one goal, one assist, and Max Morrow with one assist.Levi Kinnan finished 7-for-15 faceoff wins, with Max Morrow adding a 4-for-8 effort in faceoff wins.

Logan Williams and Westin Walrath each finished with three turnovers on defense for John Glenn (7-3). Joseph Hunt with 11 saves in goal for the Muskies.
