Track Roundup: Marion Harding take second at Ontario Invite

ONTARIO — They finished second at the Keller-Rich RV Relays and ended as runners-up again at the Ontario Relays last week.

Marion Harding's girls track and field team scored 131 points to trail only the hosts with 138 in the eight-team field. River Valley was fifth with 87 points.

Leading the Presidents were champions Ayris Rich in the high jump (5-0), Lydia Price in the 3200 meters (12:59.43) and 1600 (5:29.22) and Abrianna Smith in the 200 (26.84). Taking second place were Jule Kueppers in the 100 hurdles (16.94), Smith in the 100 (12.95) and Rich in the 200 (1:05.72). Also placing in the top four for the Prexies were Kueppers in the long jump (fourth, 14-6.5) and discus (fourth, 92-0), Layla Schneider in the pole vault (fourth, 7-0), Sofia Pedraza in the 800 (third, 2:41.25), the 4x800 relay (third, 11:03.52), distance relay (third, 14:43.05), the 4x200 relay (second, 1:49.15), the 4x100 relay (first, 52.15) and the 4x400 relay (fourth 4:38.84).

River Valley's Eva Moran won the pole vault at 11-0, and Lexie Stiverson took the shot put at 34-8, Other placers for the Vikings were Stiverson in the shot put (third, 94-6), the 4x200 relay (fourth, 1:53.98), Henlie Gilliam in the 1600 (second, 6:21.56), the 4x100 relay (second, 53.3) and the sprint medley (third, 1:59.86).

Cardington girls win Crestline meet

The Pirates scored 118 points to take the John McDonough Invitational at Crestline, while Gilead Christian was right behind in second at 101 and Elgin fourth at 93.5.

Getting wins were GC's Teresa DeZurick in the 100 (13.48) and 200 (28.8), teammate Aryanna Green in the 100 hurdles (19.32) and 300 hurdles (57.06), Cardington's Loey Hallabrin in the 800 (2:22.37), Elgin's Addison Holland in the high jump (4-6), Elgin's 4x100 and 4x200 relays and Cardington's 4x400 relay.

Picking up runner-up spots were Cardington's Magi Hallabrin in the 800 (2:47.08) and 1600 (6:14.36), Morgan White in the 3200 (13:43.76), Elgin's Sarah St. Germain in the 100 hurdles (20.32), Abigail Seiter in the discus (85-1) and Delainy Boles in the long jump (13-8.5).

Claiming third were Loey Hallabrin in the 400 (1:07.74), White in the 1600 (6:31.85), Sage Whetnall in the high jump (4-4), Dana Cosgrove in the shot put (28-10.5) and Sophie Moloney in the long jump (13-8) for the Pirates, GC's Amy Caldwell in the 3200 (20:26.5), Eva Dezurik in the 300 hurdles (1:01.61) and Green in the pole vault (5-6), and Elgin's Hanah Rhodes in the discus (74-9). GC was third in the 4x800 relay.

Elgin's Julia Kuba competed in the 100-meter wheelchair race in 33.35, the 400 WC in 2:19.86 and 800 WC in 4:48.21.

Three run at Virg Rankin Invite

Thirteen girls teams competed at the Virg Rankin Invitational at North Union with Jonathan Alder winning it with 186.5 points, while Pleasant was third at 96.5, the hosts fifth at 56 and Elgin 12th with 12.

North Union's Hannah Carney was two-event winner, taking the 200 in 26.86 and 400 in 59.72. Pleasant's Taydon Obenour won the 300 hurdles in 52.58, and NU's Kaylee Brestle won the shot put in 32-4.5. Finishing second were Pleasant's Kylee LaCroix in the 100 in 13.66, Casey Kimball in the 800 in 2:31.48, Maddie Aurigemma in the shot put at 31-11.75, the 4x400 relay in 4:26.14 and the 4x800 relay in 10:50.32.

Other top six placers were Obenour (sixth, 100 hurdles, 18.99; sixth, long jump, 13-6.25), Aurigemma (fifth, discus, 92-5), Kimball (fourth 1600, 5:39.83), Pleasant's Whitney Waddell (third, 400, 1:03.31; fourth, 200, 28.29), Pleasant's Kalyn Kimball (fourth, 3200, 13:23.6), NU's Savannah Amstutz (sixth, 800, 2:37.7), NU's Lauren Hall (fifth, 3200, 13:43.05), Elgin's Addison Holland (sixth, high jump, 4-6) and Elgin's Abigail Seiter (sixth, discus, 92-2).

Pleasant's 4x400 team was second in 4:26.14 and its 4x800 team was as well in 10:50.32.

North Union second at home meet

Jonathan Alder won the boys portion of the Virg Rankin with 124.5 points, but finishing second were the hosts with 98 points. Pleasant was sixth with 48.5, Elgin seventh with 43 and Ridgedale eighth with 31.

NU's Lincoln Harrah led the home team with victories in the 100 in 11.35 and the long jump in 20-4.75 and a runner-up run in the 200 in 22.91. Drue Duncan also won the shot put for the Wildcats with a 48-2, while Henry Hayward was second in the pole vault at 10-0, and the 4x100 was second in 44.97 and 4x200 third in 1:35.61. Other North Union placers were Carter Skaggs in the 110 hurdles (sixth, 17.72) and 300 hurdles (sixth, 45.69), Tyler Font in the 100 (fourth, 11.82), Trey Bossaller in the 400 (sixth, 54.3), the 4x400 (fifth, 3:44.95), Brayden Scowden in the high jump (fourth, 5-8) and Tyler Huff (fifth, 10:40.86).

Pleasant's Nick Swartz was first in the 1600 in 4:40.02 and second in the 3200 in 10:26.98, while Jonah Bowdle was second in the 1600 in 4:47.32, and Caleb Cameron was second in the 800 in 2:05.1. Others scoring for the Spartans were the 4x800 team (third, 8:38.98) and Joey Bradac (sixth, pole vault, 9-0).

Elgin's 4x800 relay was second in 8:28.88, Ethan Marshall fifth in 1600 in 4:48.99, Isaac Dillon second in the high jump in 5-10 and fourth in the 400 in 53.61, the 4x400 relay sixth in 3:45.32, Sage Brewer third in the 800 in 2:09.03 and Kolby Wasserbeck fourth in the 800 in 2:09.16.

Ridgedale's Gage Gleespen was third in the 110 hurdles in 17.33 as was Brogan Weston in the 1600 in 4:47.32. Weston was third in the 3200 in 10:30.96, Gleespen fourth in the 300 hurdles in 45.4 and Landon Murphy fifth in the long jump at 19-2.

Northmor runners-up at Cowen Invite

Northmor's boys finished as meet runners-up with 72 points at the 15-team Cowen Invitational in Loudonville. Highland was fourth with 64 and Cardington 15th.

The Golden Knights got a win from Bo Landin in the 200 in 23.97, a second from its 4x800 relay in 8:27.28, its 4x200 relay in 1:36.47 and its 4x100 relay in 47.04, a third from Ryan Lehman in the 3200 in 10:41.05 and its 4x400 relay in 3:36.48. Also placing for Northmor were David Blunk (fifth, 3200, 10:51.89; sixth, 1600, 4:44.07), Lehman (eighth, 1600, 4:48.9), Lucas Weaver (fourth, 800 2:05.89), Connor Stockdale (fourth, long jump, 19-1), Cowin Becker (seventh, long jump, 18-6), Connor Radojcsics (fourth, pole vault, 12-0) and Cade Miracle (eighth, pole vault, 11-6).

Highland's Gavin DeBord won the high jump in 6-4 and was sixth in the long jump at 18-6, while the Scots captured the 4x400 relay in 3:34.38. Other placers for Highland were the 4x800 relay (fourth, 8:42.15), Toby Rogers (third, 300 hurdles, 44.96; fifth, 110 hurdles, 17.31), Gavin Hankins (sixth, 100, 12.09), the 4x200 relay (seventh, 1:39.55), Joel Roberts (seventh, 1600, 4:48.48), the 4x100 relay (fifth, 47.61), Hunter Bolton (fifth, 800, 2:08.97), Matthew Miller (fourth, 3200, 10:42.98), Kieran Taylor (fifth, pole vault, 11-6) and Darren Styer (seventh, pole vault, 11-6).

Cardington's A.J. Brehm was seventh in the 400 in 56.02.

Three from Morrow County win events

Highland's Juliette Laracuente Huebner, Northmor's Natalie Hunter and Cardington's Loey Hallabrin all won events at the Cowen Invite.

Laracuente Huebner won the 100 hurdles in 14.15 and the 200 in 25.6, while Hunter took the pole vault at 9-6, and Hallabrin captured the 800 in 2:33.76.

Other placers for area girls at the Cowen were Hallabrin in the 1600 (second, 5:26.94), Hunter in the 800 (2:42.65), Northmor's Kate Lehman in the 3200 (fourth, 13:15.09), Cardington's Magi Hallabrin in the 3200 (fifth, 13:22.66), Northmor's Ryann Brinkman in the pole vault (fourth, 8-0) and Highland's Gracyn Zerby in the pole vault (fifth, 7-6), Ava Fichtner in the pole vault (sixth, 7-6), Alexis Eusey in the shot put (sixth, 32-8) and Margaret Hennell in the discus (third, 105-4).

In the 4x800, Highland was fifth and Northmor seventh, while in the 4x200 Highland was seventh, and in the 4x100, Highland was sixth and Northmor eighth. Northmor was third in the 4x400 and Highland fourth.

Elgin's boys second at Crestline

Elgin's boys scored 110 points to become runners-up behind East Knox at the McDonough Invite in Crestline. Posting wins for the Comets were Kaden Thomas in the 100 in 11.76, Marshall in the 1600 in 4:58.65 and Gabe Freshour in the discus at 113-6. Second for Elgin were Wasserbeck in the 800 in 2:12.03 and Freshour in the shot put at 36-1.75. Third for Eglin were Thomas in the 200 in 24.8, and Brewer in the 800 in 2:13.59.

Cardington was third with 106 points. Winning for the Pirates were Reitmire in the 800 with a meet record time of 2:05.68 and Jason Bockbrader in the high jump at 5-6. Reitmire was second in the 3200 in 12:15.92 as was A.J. Brehm in the high jump at 5-4. Isaac DelaCruz was third in the 400 in 57.08, and Warren Garrison was third in the 3200 in 12:39.27.

For Gilead Christian, Seth Bertam won the 3200 in 11:42.4 and was second in the pole vault at 9-6.

Harding, RV boys compete at Ontario

Marion Harding was sixth at the Ontario Relays with 81 points and RV seventh with 74 in the boys meet.

River Valley's Cooper Miller tied for first in the pole vault at 13-6, while Grant Butler won the high jump at 6-0, and Ethan Lyon won the discus by 10 inches in 147-11. Other top four individual finishers were Harding's Marquis Long (fourth, long jump, 18-9.75; fourth, high jump, 5-6), Trinity Keith (third, 100, 11.54; fourth 200, 24.11) and Carter Ferguson (third, 800, 2:10.98) and River Valley's Xavier Hensel (fourth, high jump, 5-6), Brady Cookson (fourth, shot put, 41-3) and Chase Osborne (third, 1600, 5:04.83).

Harding girls host five-way

Winning events for the Prexies at a five-way meet with Clear Fork, Pleasant, Ridgedale and the Ohio School for the Deaf were Smith in the 100 and 200 in 12.81 and 26.71, Kueppers in the 100 hurdles and discus in 17.31 and 90-2, Pedraza in the 800 in 2:39.15, Price in the 3200 in 12:56.13, Crimszine Fournoy in the shot put in 34-3 and Nyla Sharp-Holmes in the long jump in 14-6.25.

RV girls face Delaware Hayes

The Vikings got wins in the four relays plus in the discus from Stiverson (95-2.5), the pole vault from Moran (11-0) and the long jump from Madeline McFarland (14-2.5).

MG runs at Granville

Mount Gilead competed against eight bigger schools at the Granville Invitational as the boys were sixth with 57.5 points and the girls eighth with 33.

Finishing in the top four for the boys were Owen High (second, high jump, 5-10), Matthew Bland (third, long jump, 20-4), Will Baker (third, 3200, 9:29.11), Parker Bartlett (fourth, 1600, 4:28.63) and Carson Mowery (fourth, hammer throw, 119-5). For the girls, Mikala Harris was third in the discus in 95-3 and Kimberly Staley fourth in the 3200 in 12:16.53.
