Girls Athlete of the Week candidates

De'Nair Drew, senior, Pleasant Valley track and field

De'Nair took home one of the two gold medals that went to Pocono athletes in the EPC track and field championship meet. She finished first in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.70 seconds and also medaled in the intermediate hurdles.

Amanda Hayes, senior, Pleasant Valley lacrosse

Several players were key to Pleasant Valley's first EPC championship victory, Hayes especially. The senior goalie made seven saves in PV's 14-11 semifinals revenge win over Easton and 12 saves in PV's 11-9 championship victory over Emmaus.

Mia Lopez, sophomore, Pocono Mountain East track and field

Lopez made a strong league championships debut as a first-year track athlete, as the Cardinals sophomore won gold in the long jump with a 17-00 1/4 mark. Lopez took up jumping mere weeks ago and quickly rose to the top of the EPC.

Kiana Young, senior, Stroudsburg track and field

Young took home two silver medals from the EPC track and field championships. The Mounties senior placed second in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash.

Kevin Dillon, senior, Notre Dame East Stroudsburg baseball

Dillon pitched as well as he ever has on Monday, as the Spartans star tossed a complete-game no-hitter against MMI Prep. Dillon racked up 17 strikeouts, allowed no walks and faced just one batter over the minimum. A relief appearance brought his weekly totals to 20 strikeouts, one hit and zero walks over 8 1/3 innings pitched.

Ryan Kymer, senior, Pleasant Valley baseball

Kymer wielded a steady bat for the Bears in their big win over Pocono Mountain East and EPC tournament loss to Emmaus. The PV senior went 4-for-6 with a double, three stolen bases and two RBIs.

Anthony Liguori, senior, Stroudsburg Track and field

Liguori took home two medals from the EPC track and field championship meet. He placed fourth in the shot put with a 46-06 throw and tied for second in discus with a 136-07 score.

Christopher Reed, junior, Pocono Mountain West track and field

Reed also won two EPC track and field medals, and he nearly won a third. Reed placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles and fifth in the 300-meter hurdles and just missed the podium with a sixth-place high jump finish.
