Tracking device helps cops find NYC carjack suspects and stolen car in upper Manhattan

A 29-year-old man carjacked steps from Grand Central Terminal early Thursday activated a vehicle tracking device that helped cops find his luxury ride and arrest three suspects, police sources said.

The man was behind the wheel of a black 2022 BMW when three men approached him on Lexington Ave. near E. 45th St. around 1:10 a.m., said a source.

“Get the f—k out of the car!” one of the crooks screamed as he pulled the victim out of the car.

The gunman climbed into the driver’s seat while two accomplices jumped into other seats.

As the men drove off, the quick-thinking victim activated a tracking device on the car and notified police.

Cops tried to stop the vehicle on Broadway, but the men did not pull over, police said.

Finally — in far northern Manhattan — the bumbling driver crashed BMW near the intersection of W. 220th St. and Broadway in Inwood, just south of the Broadway Bridge.

Police arrested the men and discovered a handgun in the wrecked car.

Charges against trio were pending Thursday.
