Tracking NYC snow plows, borough by borough: Live updates

As New York City experiences its first significant snow accumulation of the year, Sanitation Department plows went to work Tuesday for the first time in two years. DSNY trucks were supplemented by Transportation Department and MTA crews working to keep bridges and tunnels clear.

With at least 2 inches as of 1 p.m. throughout the boroughs — parts of the city could see up to 6 inches — here’s their progress, according to the DSNY plow tracker:

Manhattan:

Plows have doubled down on the island of Manhattan, with trucks returning to Washington Heights and Harlem in the past hour. Plow trucks were still scarce on the Upper West Side, and portions of the financial district had not been plowed in more than an hour.

Brooklyn:

Most of the borough has been plowed within the last three hours, with trucks slowing as blacktop emerged from the slush and the sun began to peek through the clouds. The tracker showed Bed-Stuy, Sunset Park and most of south Brooklyn had not been plowed in two to three hours.

Queens:

Forest Hills and Jackson Heights continued to receive attention from plow crews Tuesday afternoon, but on the whole plowing slowed across Queens as snowfall abated. Sunnyside, Long Island City, Corona and College Park were among the neighborhoods that had not been plowed in three hours.

Bronx:

Plowing slowed in the Bronx as well, where the Williamsbridge neighborhood had not been plowed in three hours. Much of the South Bronx had been plowed within the hour.

Staten Island:

Crews did cleanup work in previously under-plowed areas of Richmond County, including the island’s southern tip in Tottenville, where trucks had made another pass in the past hour. But on most of the island, including New Brighton, Manor Heights and New Dorp, plowing had slowed.
