Wednesday is expected to be the last day of the high heat and humidity pattern this week.
Highs remain in the low 90s with a heat index near 100 in the afternoon before scattered afternoon showers dampen some in the viewing area.
A cold front entering the region late Thursday will touch off more scattered storms into the evening.
Once we dry out on Thursday night, much drier and cooler weather arrives.
We will still warm to the mid to upper 80s through the weekend, but the humidity will be much lower.
Saturday morning will be noticeably cooler if you step out the door with temperatures in the lower 60s and maybe even some 40 degree lows for folks at the highest elevations in the mountains.
Stay cool during hot weather:
Drink plenty of fluids
Stay in an air-conditioned room
Stay out of the sun
Check on relatives and neighbors
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
Be careful when outside.
If possible, reschedule strenuous activities until early morning or evening.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.
