Tracking Vanderbilt baseball players, signees who have deals with MLB teams
Vanderbilt baseball had five players from the 2022 roster and seven commits selected in the MLB Draft. These players have until Aug. 1 to come to terms on a contract; those who do not will likely be playing for the Commodores in 2023.
Since 2012, 98.6% of players drafted in the first 10 rounds have signed, with the majority of those who did not sign failing to do so due to medical concerns.
Each team has a bonus pool of money it can offer in signing bonuses. Teams cannot exceed this pool without facing heavy penalties. For players picked in the first 10 rounds, the full amount of the signing bonus counts towards the pool. Players drafted after the 10th round or who sign as undrafted free agents can receive up to $125,000 without counting toward the bonus pool.
