Former Memphis Grizzlies forward Danny Green is back on the market.

A report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Sunday indicates that the Houston Rockets and Green are agreeing to a buyout, and it sounds like the veteran wing is heading back where things started. ESPN later reported that Green is nearing a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team where he spent his first NBA season.

Green was traded from the Grizzlies on Thursday in a three-team deal among Memphis, Houston and the L.A. Clippers. He played three games in Memphis after spending the past five months rehabbing with the Grizzlies' medical staff.

The Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns and L.A. Lakers also had reported interest in Green.

Grizzlies coaches and players spoken glowingly about Green's activeness and leadership around the team since he was traded to Memphis in a draft-night trade that sent De'Anthony Melton to the Philadelphia 76ers. Memphis acquired Green and David Roddy with the 23rd overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Green attended a Summer League game, G League Memphis Hustle games, community events and was active in team huddles.

"I didn't want to trade Danny," Grizzlies Director of Basketball Operations and General Manager Zach Kleiman said Friday. "I think there is value Danny could have provided on the court and off the court. ... Danny has got a lot left in the tank. I'm sure (he) will end in some kind of spot that's great for him and he's excited about. He's still got a lot of good basketball in him."
