Trader Joe’s coming to Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — The California-based eclectic grocery store chain Trader Joe’s will open its fourth Middle Tennessee location in Murfreesboro.

Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland announced on social media Friday the fan-favorite store famous for unique food items and culture is coming to Rutherford County.

“It’s happening!!! I haven’t been hacked and this isn’t April fools!!!” McFarland said.

It is not known where in Murfreesboro the proposed store would be located.

McFarland said on social media the project, which he has been pursuing for 10 years, has already gone through the planning commission and will likely be built in the Medical Center Parkway area.

“We’re really grateful for the group that is bringing them to Murfreesboro,” added McFarland.

The Nashville area currently has three Trader Joe’s, one in Green Hills on Hillsboro Pike, one in West Nashville on White Bridge Road and one in Franklin on Cool Springs Boulevard.

Trader Joe’s reportedly has 564 stores across the nation.
