‘Traditionally it’s a last Hurrah’: East Aurora’s The Deli celebrates Fat Tuesday

EAST AURORA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Fat Tuesday is a day known for indulgence.

“It’s a way to celebrate the coming of Lent season, and a lot of people give up these wonderful things for Lent so traditionally it’s a last hurrah,” said Ed Borzillieri, owner of The Deli.

The Deli, is a family owned business, that’s celebrating the holiday with some specials to satisfy those cravings, while providing a pick-me-up for the community.

“It’s February, it’s kind of a down month, football’s over and we were looking for an event and we thought jeez, let’s bring some of this special food, on this special day to a special area,” Borzillieri said.

To celebrate Mardi Gras, they’re serving Muffuletta–a popular New Orleans-Italian known sandwich, dishing up homemade gumbo–serving local beers, and of course–packaging up a very popular Polish delight–Paczki.

The Deli is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information visit their Facebook Page here.
