Traffic alert: Busy stretch of Kerr Avenue to close next week

Starting next week, a Wrightsboro stretch of North Kerr Avenue will be temporarily closed to drivers for maintenance work.

The road will close between Truesdale Road and Kerr Avenue on Monday, according to a news release from the North Carolina Department of Transportation. It’s expected to reopen on June 18, depending on weather.

During the closure, crews will replace five large crossline pipes, according to the department of transportation. The work must be completed before the road is resurfaced.

Drivers will be detoured onto Blue Clay Road, North College Road, Bavarian Lane and North Kerr Avenue. The department of transportation recommends that drivers allow extra time for their commute and use caution when traveling near the work zone.
