Update 5.19.2023, 11:15 a.m.:

Update 5.19.2023, 6:32 a.m.:

JEA says repairs are complete and we have been working on the hot asphalt patches. By 6:30 a.m. they will have the asphalt done and the middle and right travel lanes open. We will then begin on the left southbound turn and the northbound turn lanes. We are expecting to be fully out of the road with all lanes open by late morning or midday.

JEA also states they have built and continue to build our Transmission and Distribution water grids with redundancy to help prevent major outages to customers. In this case, crews were able to isolate the break with in-line valves that prevented interruption to our customers. This is not always possible with all sections of the water grid, but we remain focused on providing reliable and continued service.

Update 5.18.23, 11:37 p.m.: JEA says conditions are continuing to change during this complex work. JEA is now having to shut down an additional lane in southbound traffic because they need to widen the evacuation as it deepens to expose the pipe and install safety equipment to ensure the safety of the crews.

UPDATE 5:42 p.m.: The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has indicated that the Southbound I-295 exit onto San Jose Boulevard will be closed until 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 17. In addition, 2 lanes on Southbound San Jose Boulevard will be closed at Claine Lane until 6 a.m. Thursday, May 18.
