TRAFFIC ALERT: Upcoming roadwork to begin in Dale County

DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is expected to begin working on an upcoming project on Highway 51 on Monday, January 29.

The project consists of shoulder widening and resurfacing on Highway 51 in Dale County from U.S. Highway 231 to the Barbour County line.

Lane closures and reduced speed limits will be expected throughout the project.

Motorists are advised to plan accordingly for delays and be mindful of crews working in the area.

ALDOT awarded the project to Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc., of Dothan, which had the lowest bid that met project requirements, costing approximately $2.5 million.

The project is expected to be completed in early Summer 2024.
