Traffic delayed on I-85 in Salisbury after wreck

SALISBURY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Drivers on Interstate in Salisbury faced heavy traffic delays Tuesday afternoon following a wreck involving a tractor-trailer.

On I-85 near E. Innes Street, two lanes were closed, headed north, and one lane was closed southbound, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).

In photos released by the Miller’s Ferry Fire Department, a semi-truck hauling a construction vehicle can be seen in the median of the road. The impact of the crash appears to have caused the construction vehicle to come off its trailer.

The construction vehicle seems to be a Komatsu PC290LC hydraulic excavator. The incident was first reported around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

The road reopened around 4:30 p.m. Authorities have not said what led up to the incident or if anyone was injured.
