Traffic snarls after rollover crash on I-290 in Marlborough; one motorist cited

MARLBOROUGH One man was injured in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon that slowed traffic on Interstate 290 during rush hour.

That motorist was also cited, Massachusetts State Trooper James DeAngelis said.

At about 3 p.m., troopers responded to I-290 eastbound near Exit 32A in Marlborough for a report of a three-vehicle crash.

They found a RAM ProMaster Van, driven by a 59-year-old Boxborough man, had rolled over and crashed into a Mazda 3 driven by a 23-year-old Hudson man, while a Nissan Altima, driven by a 40-year-old Leicester man, was also damaged.

The driver of the van suffered minor injuries, but it wasn't immediately known whether he was taken to the hospital, DeAngelis said. That man will be summonsed to Marlborough District Court and charged with driving with a revoked license.

The Mazda and Nissan each sustained damage but could be driven from the scene.

The crash also damaged a guardrail, and the left two lanes of the road were temporarily closed. The road was cleared at 5 p.m., DeAngelis said.

The crash remains under investigation.
