The trailer for the latest Grand Theft Auto just dropped. It’s looking a lot like Miami

The graffitied buildings of Wynwood. An alligator being yanked from someone’s pool. A woman twerking on the roof of a moving car. Teensy bikinis galore.

Yep, sure looks a lot like Miami to us.

We’re talking about the Grand Theft Auto VI trailer, which leaked on Monday and was officially released shortly after, a day earlier than planned.

The action packed trailer confirms the rumors that the upcoming video game takes place in “Vice City,” the GTA series’ fictionalized version of Miami. Other games are set in fictionalized versions of other cities like New York (Liberty City) and Los Angeles (San Andreas).

The last major Grand Theft Auto game set in a fictionalized Miami was back in 2002, and took place in the crazy ’80s, aka the “Miami Vice” and “Scarface” era of pastel suits, white lines and rampant crime.

The newly dropped trailer, which rocks out to Tom Petty’s “Love is a Long Road,” shows a more, um, contemporary setting.

Beside all the twerking, gators and graffiti, other telltale Miami-esque signs are there. Traffic accustomed locals may recognize a biker riding down a highway that greatly resembles I-395/The MacArthur Causeway. There’s also a scene of an airboat zooming through the Everglades, as well as revelers partying on Ocean Drive and beachgoers relaxing on the sands of Miami Beach.
