Trailing Biden in polls and cash, Trump campaign spent nearly $500K on fireworks: report

They really wanted to make a bang.

Trailing the Biden campaign by double-digits and polls and well over a million dollars in campaign cash, President Trump’s re-election campaign spent nearly a half-million dollars in fireworks last month, according to the Daily Beast, which also said MAGA 2020 dumped more than $200,000 into lawyers who specialize in “petty media feuds.”

Despite having the White House and Washington D.C. skyline at its disposal for the president’s acceptance speech, Trump’s campaign reportedly dumped $477,000 into the handiwork of Grucci Inc, which coordinated the pyrotechnics show that lit up the Washington Monument after the incumbent “profoundly” welcomed his party’s nomination.

That’s reportedly more than the campaign paid its top polling firm last month. It also comes out to than half the $762,826.08 the committee to re-elect the president spent on payroll in August.

Biden’s campaign and the DNC now has $466 million in the bank as both campaigns move toward the November election. The president and the RNC have only $325 million cash on hand, according to the latest FEC reports.

The Daily Beast reports that Trump’s team has paid more than $11 million in legal fees during the campaign, which is about ten times what Biden’s campaign has given to lawyers.

Last month, the president’s team reportedly paid more than $200,000 to attorney Charles Harder’s firm, which specializes in locking horns with media outlets. In total, Trump’s camp has paid $3.3 million to Harder, the Daily Beast reports.

Biden’s team has operated a cautious ground game limited by pandemic restrictions, which has turned its focus to advertising and remote voter outreach.

Trump, on the other hand, has reportedly jetted his organization all around the country, hosting grand events, and taking with them a medical unit that’s responsibilities include routine COVID-19 testing.

Newsweek reported Tuesday that Trump leads Biden in only one of 60 national polls. FiveThirtyEight reports a 6.9% lead for the former vice president.
