Trainload with Iskander M missile systems arrives in Belarus from Russia

A trainload with at least 10 pieces of Iskander M missile systems has arrived in Belarus.

Quote: "According to the information of Belaruski Hajun, a trainload with at least 10 pieces of Iskander M operational-tactical missile systems arrived at the Asipovichy station (Mogilev Oblast) from the village of Kapustin Yar in Astrakhan Oblast, Russian Federation.

It is known that the missile test range of the same name is located there – the 4th State Central Multi-Service Range of the Russian Federation. Reportedly, the Iskander M operational-tactical missile system has already entered service with the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus. And this trainload with the Iskanders is not the last to arrive in Belarus."

Background:

  • In June 2022, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin stated that he would soon give Belarus Iskander M systems, which can carry ballistic and cruise missiles. Putin emphasised that these missiles could have nuclear warheads.

  • In April 2023, Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that Belarus already had at its disposal assault aircraft and Iskander-M missile systems capable of delivering nuclear strikes.
