Man accused of rape at MBTA’s Tuft’s Medical Station was arrested

A man who is accused of committing rape at a Boston MBTA station earlier this month was taken into custody Monday, Transit police said.

According to police, Steven Wade Coffey, 28, was wanted for an alleged assault and rape that occurred at Tuft’s Medical Center Station on August 4.

Coffey is believed to be homeless and is known to frequent Downtown Boston, police said in a statement.

Police released a photo and description of Coffey on August 13.

Officials did not indicate where Coffee was taken into custody, or when he will be arraigned.
