Travel plans? Escondido Post Office to host weekend passport fair

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — As people start making their summer travel plans, the Escondido Post Office wants to remind travelers to submit new passport applications as soon as possible.

The U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs estimates processing new passport applications will take between six to eight weeks.

The Escondido Post Office says although it does not usually accept passport applications on weekends, it’s hosting a passport fair on Saturday, March 2 to make planning for international travel easier.

The passport fair is meant to be convenient for residents of Escondido and North County, especially those who have children who attend school during the weekdays.

The passport fair is being held from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Escondido Post Office located at 1157 W. Mission Ave.

People will be served on a first-come, first-served basis and registration is not required.

The office recommends that applicants bring an unsigned, printed copy of their completed DS-11 passport application ahead of time to the fair. They must also bring an acceptable passport photo, fees and other necessary documents.

The post office is also offering passport photo services for anyone who needs to take a photo.
