Travelers Flock to Hankou Railway Station to Leave Wuhan as Lockdown Lifted

Large numbers of people who had been under lockdown in Wuhan, China, for more than two months, lined up in front of the city’s Hankou Railway Statio on April 8 to leave the area as travel restrictions were lifted.

In this footage, filmed by a local, large lines of people can be seen waiting to enter the station in a bid to leave the city.

The lockdown on the capital of Hubei province was put in place on January 23, preventing all inbound and outbound travel by road, rail and ferry in an attempt to contain the spread of COVID-19.

By April 8 a total of 67,803 confirmed cases of coronavirus had been reported in the Hubei province. Since the outbreak began there have been 3,215 deaths related to COVID-19 in the region, including 2,574 deaths in Wuhan. Credit: Anonymous via Storyful
