Travelers not wearing masks could face hefty fines in new TSA plan

The Transportation Security Administration released a plan to fine travelers hundreds of dollars if they refuse to comply with President Biden's executive order to wear a face mask while on public transportation. "For the first violation, travelers can be fined $250," said TSA spokesperson Lorie Dankers. The mask mandate has been in place since Tuesday, but effective Friday, the TSA is recommending fines for travelers refusing to wear a face mask while on a plane, train or bus and in airports and rail stations.
