Travis Goff, Northwestern’s deputy athletic director, is reportedly expected to be the new AD at Kansas

Kansas is expected to hire Northwestern deputy athletic director Travis Goff as its new athletic director, according to reports.

Goff, a Kansas native who graduated from the university, has been key to Northwestern’s fundraising and top-level administrative decisions.

He arrived at Northwestern in 2012 after working as associate athletic director for external affairs at Tulane for five years.

At Northwestern, he helped raise funds for major athletic facility projects, including the $270 million Walter Athletics Center and Ryan Fieldhouse and the $110 million renovation of Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Goff also served as sports administrator for football, volleyball and baseball.

He will replace Jeff Long, who was fired in early March after sexual harassment allegations against former Kansas football coach Les Miles surfaced from Miles’ tenure at LSU. Miles, whom Long hired at Kansas, mutually parted with the school two days before Long was fired.

Northwestern also is seeking a replacement for athletic director Jim Phillips, who left to become the ACC commissioner in February.
