Travis Kelce: “The Browns and Chiefs are neck and neck, for sure”

As Cleveland Browns star receiver Jarvis Landry hosts a bevy of his teammates for his charity softball event today, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs may have stolen the spotlight with a quote.

Kelce, who grew up in Westlake, Ohio and attended college at Cincinnati, sat for some questions with the media before participating in the softball event. Kelce spoke high of the host’s team by putting them on the same level as the team he plays for:

High praise comparing Cleveland to Kansas City. The Chiefs have made back-to-back Super Bowls, winning one, and knocked off the Browns in the playoffs last year despite losing Patrick Mahomes during the game.

Cleveland hopes to meet Kelce’s expectations through continuity on offense under Kevin Stefanski, Alex Van Pelt and Baker Mayfield. On defense, the Browns have made major changes in an attempt to keep up with teams like the Chiefs.

Kelce, donning Cleveland Indians gear, could have just been being gracious to Landry’s team but Cleveland has a chance in Week 1 of the NFL season to prove him right.
