During the break between bands Loverboy and Foreigner on Nov. 7, the last concert of the 2023 season, Mayor Walt Maddox, with other city officials and Michael Göbel, president and CEO of the Tuscaloosa County Mercedes-Benz plant, made the name-change announcement on stage. Tritt played what has until this month been called the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater in October 2022. He also played an acoustic show at the Bama Theatre in 2017.

The Marietta, Georgia, native taught himself to play guitar at 8, joined his church band at 14, and began writing music in high school, starting a bluegrass band that won second place in a local tournament. He gigged around Atlanta, then moved to Nashville, cutting a demo, "Proud of the Country," which earned him a record deal.

Of his seven best-selling studio discs, 1991's "It's All About to Change" went highest, selling triple platinum. With more than 43 singles, most charted, including 15 Top 10, and five No. 1s: "Help Me Hold On," "Anymore," "Can I Trust You With My Heart," "Foolish Pride," and "Best of Intentions." Tritt has won two Grammys, four Country Music Awards, has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1992, and acted in TV movies. His latest studio work came out this summer, a gospel project titled "Country Chapel," produced by Dave Cobb, who also worked on his 2021 disc "Set in Stone."

Foster is a Louisiana-born country singer-songwriter with eight indie albums, the last four of which have risen to Top 20 on U.S. Country charts. Matthew is a Nashville native who released his debut album "Born for This" in 2022. He's cut singles including "County Line," "Love You Again" and "The Way I Am."
