Willy's Bar & Grill

Business partners Charles "Adam" Morris and Henry Kantorski wanted to bring both a family-friendly restaurant and late-night bar atmosphere to Fellsmere, opening Willy's Bar & Grill Jan. 8. The classic American fare includes burgers, wings, pizza, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, pulled pork sandwiches and cheesesteaks. The most popular entrée so far has been the peel-and-eat shrimp and wing combo. Domestic and imported beers are available starting at $3. There's karaoke on Wednesday nights, open mic on Thursday nights and local, live bands on weekends. The restaurant is named after Morris' miniature horse, who makes guest appearances on the weekends.

Asian Fusion Sushi & Eatery

Co-owner Dun Chau is no stranger to the restaurant industry, having previously owned five sushi bars in the Orlando area, including Fusion Bistro Sushi & Sake at Universal's CityWalk. Now he's expanding to Indian River County with Asian Fusion Sushi & Eatery on Hutchinson Island. The weekly-changing menu features Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine, combining flavors from around Southeast Asia. The most popular entrees have been the fusion sushi rolls, such as the Victory ($14.99), with seared salmon, krab, apple, mayo and ponzu; and the Dancing Eel ($12.99), a California roll topped with BBQ eel. Other favorites include egg fried rice ($9.99) and chicken curry ($9.99). The restaurant has a display kitchen, so diners can watch their food being prepared, and hosts events such as sushi-making classes and sake tasting.

Ceviche 28

Formerly Inti International, Ceviche 28 debuted Dec. 28 under new ownership, hoping to bring more Peruvian cuisine to Vero Beach. The most popular menu items have been the ceviche dishes (starting at $15.95), which can include a variety of seafood options. Other fan favorites have been the Pulpo a la Parrilla ($23.95), grilled octopus seasoned with Peruvian panca chili and served with potatoes and corn; and the Churrasco a lo Pobre ($17.95), grilled churrasco with chimichurri sauce served with rice, black beans and plantains. Cevice 28 has craft cocktails and a wide selection of wine, beer and liquor. Weekday lunch specials are from noon to 4 p.m., with select entrees at $10.99.

Ashmeed Mohammed sought to bring a taste of Trinidad and Tobago when debuting Fort Pierce's newest restaurant Jan. 8. Tasha's Roti Shop serves traditional Caribbean fare, specializing in roti — a round flatbread originally hailing from India. The most popular menu items have been the various roti meals and the "double" appetizer ($3 each), with curry flavored chickpeas between two pieces of fried bread. Roti protein options include chicken, goat, duck, beef and shrimp. The restaurant has varying lunch specials from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday. Mohammed aims to provide the area's Trinidadian and Guyanese communities with authentic, home-cooked meals.

Suk Kho Thai

Suk Kho Thai in Port St. Lucie, named after a city in Thailand that means "dawn of happiness," opened Jan. 11 and serves traditional Thai and Japanese cuisine. Menu items feature ramen, curry, katsu, sashimi, sushi rolls, tom yum soup, lard na and more. The management did not respond to TCPalm's request for more information.

Crumbl Cookies

Crumbl Cookies in Port St. Lucie had its grand opening Jan. 7. The nationwide dessert chain changes its menu weekly, offering four or five new cookie and ice cream flavors. Flavors have included raspberry lemonade, chocolate cake, milk chocolate chip and cinnamon fry bread. The management did not respond to TCPalm's request for more information.

Bahamian Delight

This is the second Treasure Coast storefront for Norma Larsen, who owns Pattie Lady Bakery Cafe in the Indian River Mall. Bahamian Delight, in the Treasure Coast Square food court, opened Dec. 1, with Larsen serving traditional cuisine from her homeland. Popular menu items include cracked conch ($17.99), chicken curry ($11.99) and fish stew ($15.99). Tropical treats include coconut tart. There are varying daily specials ad delivery service available through DoorDash and UberEats.

The Googan

Jim and Tanya Mitchell debuted Martin County's latest coffee shop and restaurant Jan. 18, paying homage to the area's coastal yet upscale atmosphere. The Googan Coffee Shop, which has a drive-thru window, serves coffee, tea, matcha, beer, wine, baked goods and more. The most popular menu items have been the espressos and specialty energy drinks such as the Riptide, with blue energy, lemonade, guava and tidal dust; and the Mermaid, with lavender energy, Huckleberry and mermaid tail gummies. Prices vary based on size. Food options feature hand-crafted breakfast pizzas, including the Freight Train ($10), topped with eggs, hash browns, sausage crumbles, cheddar cheese and sausage gravy; and the Veggie ($10), topped with hash browns, baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, Swiss cheese and eggs.

Passion Juice Bar

Downtown Stuart's latest smoothie, juice and health food eatery opened Dec. 3, boasting that all its menu items are under 300 calories. Passion Juice Bar aims to serve organic, gluten-free and keto-friendly meals that are healthy and delicious, said owner Grace Gillespie, who is a nutritionist, personal trainer and published author. The most popular menu items have been the Protein Fervor smoothie, with bananas, peanut butter, flaxseed, chocolate protein and almond milk; and the Revitalizer juice, with apple, lemon, carrot, beets and ginger. Prices vary based on size. The acai bowls and ginger shots have also been a hit, she said. Watch for a mid-February grand opening.

Jordan's Latin Food

Orlando Rivera wanted to represent a wide variety of cultures when he debuted Jordan's Latin Food in East Stuart last month. The take-out only restaurant has something for everyone: Honduran, Puerto Rican, Mexican and American cuisine. The most popular menu items have been the wings, tacos and Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Though this is Rivera's first storefront, his family operates Yayo Catracho in Port St. Lucie.

Island Vibes Kava Bar

Island Vibes Kava Bar opened its Stuart location Dec. 22, featuring specialty kava and herbal tea drinks served in a coconut shell. All kava is shipped from the Polynesian Islands, and the restaurant prides itself on creating a casual, community atmosphere. The management did not respond to TCPalm's request for more information.

The Marketplace

A new, Italian-inspired gourmet marketplace debuted in Hobe Sound this month, serving freshly baked breads, pastries and more. The Marketplace at Martin's Landing has breakfast, lunch and dinner for takeout or dining in. Specialty pizzas prepared in a wood-fired oven include a classic margherita ($16), bianca ($18) and sausage and broccoli rabe ($20). Craft sandwiches feature homemade bread, including multigrain, ciabatta and filone. Quiches, croissants, muffins, Danishes and more top off the food menu. On the other side of the business, the market has premade dishes such as eggplant parmesan, carrot ginger soup and grab-and-go snacks such as cheese, crackers, chips and sweets. The Marketplace also has a wide selection of bottled wine.

Baskin Robbins

The nationwide ice cream chain permanently closed its Vero Beach location at 504 21st St. in late December.
