FirstEnergy Corp. reported that more than 1,150 of its Portage County customers were without power as 11:30 of a.m. Thursday.

This includes about 640 in Shalersville, about 260 in Paris Township and fewer than 100 each in nearly 20 other communities.

FirstEnergy is citing tree or equipment damage as causes of the outages.
