Charlotte Water is blaming tree roots for another overflow of wastewater that reached a local waterway this week.

According to Charlotte Water, crews found the overflow Wednesday on Middle Acres Road in northeast . About 4,400 gallons of wastewater reached Back Creek, which is very close to the location of the overflow.

Earlier this week, Charlotte Water said about 2,000 gallons of wastewater reached Reedy Creek. Tree roots and grease were blamed for that blockage.

The city didn’t say that neighbors need to do anything to treat their water at home. No waterway closures were announced in connection with the spill.
