Trees Sway on St Thomas Amid Tropical Storm Warning

A tropical storm warning was issued for the US Virgin Islands and surrounding areas as heavy rain and gusty winds spread over the region on Wednesday, July 29, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine prompted the storm warning in Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands, parts of the Bahamas, and nearby islands.

This video, filmed by Dylan Varone, shows winds shaking trees in Peterborg on St Thomas.

The storm system was about 150 miles south-southeast of St Croix in the US Virgin Islands, the NHC said at 11 am on Wednesday. The storm was packing 45 mph winds and moving west-northwest at 23 mph.
