'A tremendous challenge': Bellarmine's 2022-23 men's basketball schedule won't be easy

After winning the ASUN Tournament championship last season, Bellarmine's looking to challenge itself in 2022-23.

The Knights unveiled their complete 31-game regular season schedule Wednesday and it includes a number of college basketball blue bloods and Power Five conference opponents.

"This schedule is a tremendous challenge," Bellarmine coach Scott Davenport said in a release. "Our players and the greatest college basketball fans in the country appreciate and understand the difficult challenge that lies ahead. Very special players/teams embrace the challenge to be a part of something bigger than one individual, knowing this will bring out the absolute best in them. We have and always will want the absolute best for them. They deserve it and they earn it every day."

The Knights open their season on Tuesday, Nov. 8 against Louisville in the KFC Yum Center, in Cardinals coach Kenny Payne's first game. The last time the two teams played each other was Oct. 28, 2018 during the 2018-19 preseason. Bellarmine will get its fair taste of ACC basketball when the Knights travel to Clemson on Nov. 18 before taking trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium to face Duke on Nov. 21.

Bellarmine's schedule doesn't let up after the Duke game. After facing the Blue Devils on that Monday, the Knights will spend their Thanksgiving in Los Angeles before facing Loyola Marymount that Friday, Nov. 25. Bellarmine ends the week with a date with UCLA in Pauley Pavillion that Sunday Nov. 27.

Bellarmine's five-game road trip finally comes to an end on Tuesday, Nov. 29, when the Knights travel to Rupp Arena for their first meeting with Kentucky since transitioning to Division I. Bellarmine closes out its nonconference schedule with meetings against Murray State (an in-state clash on Dec. 10 at Freedom Hall), Miami (Ohio) and Evansville.

The Knights open league play on Dec. 29 at home against Liberty. Other home ASUN games include Queens University of Charlotte (an ASUN newcomer), Stetson, Florida Gulf Coast, Eastern Kentucky, Kennesaw State, Jacksonville State, North Alabama and Central Arkansas.
