We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to uncover which eateries have been on the tips of diners' tongues this month.
To find out who made the list, we looked at San Antonio businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Maverick Texas Brasserie
Open since 2018, this brasserie and New American spot, which offers comfort food and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "American (New)" on Yelp.
Citywide, New American spots saw a median 2.1 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but Maverick Texas Brasserie saw a 6.6 percent increase, maintaining a superior four-star rating throughout.
It's not the only trending outlier in the New American category: The General Public has seen a 3.8 percent increase in reviews.
Located at 710 S. St. Mary's St. in Lavaca, Maverick Texas Brasserie offers pasta, sandwiches and shareable plates of seafood. Look for the pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing, Swiss cheese and more.
Willie's Grill & Icehouse
Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Willie's Grill & Icehouse, the well-established traditional American spot, which offers burgers and seafood, is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.
While businesses categorized as "American (Traditional)" on Yelp saw a median 3.4 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, Willie's Grill & Icehouse bagged a 7.3 percent increase in new reviews within that timeframe, maintaining a mixed 3.5-star rating. It significantly outperformed the previous month by gaining 1.9 times more reviews than expected based on its past performance.
Open at 15801 San Pedro Ave. since 2017, Willie's Grill & Icehouse offers half-pound burgers, sandwiches, tacos and more. Look for its seasonal ultimate Cajun platter with three pounds of crawfish, half dozen boiled shrimp, sausage and veggies.

However, on a month-to-month basis Commonwealth Coffehouse and Bakery's review count increased by more than 500 percent.
Commonwealth Coffehouse and Bakery offers breakfast tacos, specialty sandwiches and soup. Look for the quiche Lorraine, an open-faced pastry stuffed with egg, black forest ham and cheese. Over the past month, it's maintained a healthy 4.5-star rating among Yelpers.
