We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to uncover which restaurants have been in the limelight this month.
To find out who made the list, we looked at San Diego businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse
Open since October 2018, this wine bar and steakhouse, which offers seafood and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Steakhouses" on Yelp.
Citywide, steakhouses saw a median 1.1 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse saw a 9.8 percent increase, maintaining a convincing four-star rating throughout.
Located at 901 Bayfront Court, Suite 105, in Core-Columbia, Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse offers Alaskan king crab legs, caviar service and seared rare Wagyu beef carpaccio.
Cesarina
Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Point Loma Heights's Cesarina, the wine bar and Italian and breakfast and brunch spot is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.
While businesses categorized as "Italian" on Yelp saw a median 1.6 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, Cesarina bagged a 28.4 percent increase in new reviews within that timeframe, maintaining an impressive five-star rating.

Parakeet Cafe offers pancakes, waffles, coffee, salads and more. Over the past month, it's maintained a convincing 4.5-star rating among Yelpers.
Shrimp Heads
North Park's Shrimp Heads is currently on the upswing in the seafood category on Yelp.
While businesses categorized as "Seafood" on Yelp saw a median 1.6 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, this Cajun/Creole spot, which offers seafood and more, increased by 26.5 percent—and kept its rating consistent at 4.5 stars.
Open for business at 2832 El Cajon Blvd. (between Utah and Idaho streets) since January, the business offers fried seafood baskets, seafood boils and raw oysters.
House of Blues Restaurant & Bar
Open since 2017, this New American and jazz and blues spot, which offers barbecue and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "American (New)" on Yelp.
Citywide, businesses tagged "American (New)" saw a median 1.2 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but House of Blues Restaurant & Bar saw a 17.7 percent increase, maintaining a healthy four-star rating throughout. It gained 0.6 times more reviews than expected based on past performance, significantly outperforming the previous month.
Located at 1055 Fifth Ave. at Broadway in Core-Columbia, House of Blues Restaurant & Bar offers specialty cocktails, flatbreads, cajun pasta, country fried steak and more.
