Aberdeen native Christian Cox has been inducted into the South Dakota High School Baseball Association Hall of Fame.

In 2009, while playing for the Aberdeen Smittys as a sophomore, Cox was named to the All-Region 2 and all-state teams as a pitcher. He was undefeated on the season. He is one of the Smittys best players in recent history.

After two years at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, Cox went on to play at the University of Nebraska for two years, where he was an outfielder and pitcher and made the Academic All-Big Ten Team.

In 2014, his first season as a Cornhusker, Cox played in 38 games, getting 68 plate appearances and batting .300. In his second season, he batted .147. In his time at Nebraska, he also pitched 1.2 innings, giving up an earned run.

After two seasons in Omaha, Cox headed to West Virginia to play with the Bluefield Blue Jays, a rookie affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. That was in summer 2015. He pitched a total of two-thirds of an inning in two games. Later that summer, Cox went on to play in the Frontier League with the Evansville Otters. He would make two appearances, pitching an inning without allowing a hit, run or walk.

During the 2016 season, Cox would land with the Vancouver Canadiens, making one appearance with the short-season Class A team. He tossed an inning, allowing two hits and a run. Later that season, he returned to the rookie team in Bluefield, pitching 24 innings while allowing 22 hits and 11 earned runs, finishing with a 4.13 earned-run average.
