Trey Songz Claims Self-Defense Over Alleged Assault on Woman at NBA All-Star Party

Trey Songz says if he used any force against a woman it was only to protect himself, and is demanding the lawsuit accusing him of assault be dismissed.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Songz (real name: Tremaine Neverson) is arguing self-defense as the reason to throw out the case.

The singer says that he is not responsible for any harm suffered by Andrea Buera, the woman suing him. He says during the alleged incident he “reasonably believed Plaintiff was going to harm him and any force he used was only the amount reasonable necessary to protect himself.”

Songz has been battling Andrea, a woman who accused the "Bottoms Up" singer of assaulting her at a party in the Hollywood Hills during this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend. She claimed he became enraged after she talked to one of his friends.

In the newly filed docs, the singer denies all allegations of wrongdoing and demands her lawsuit be dismissed.

Songz argues if Buera’s suffered damages it was due to her wrongful conduct.

The singer was arrested for the alleged attack but both the L.A. City Attorney and the D.A. both declined to press charges against Songz. They cited a lack of evidence as the reasoning. Songz has always denied the allegations, and said he was "being lied on and falsely accused for someone's personal gain." Following the criminal case being dismissed, Buera sued Songz for assault and battery relating to the alleged incident.

In her lawsuit she claimed the two met in Vegas back in 2015 and have had a causal relationship.

On the night in question, she claimed that Songz came up to her at his party while she was talking to another musician named Chisanity. He allegedly became enraged and started following her around the party.

She accused him of viciously beating her while she kept begging him to stop and let her leave. Buera said he punched her again which caused her to collapse and hit a parked car. Buera said the only reason the attack stopped was a bodyguard intervened.

Buera sued seeking unspecified damages for alleged injuries and medical expenses.

The case is ongoing.
