Tri-C kicks off 60th anniversary celebration

Apr. 7—Cuyahoga Community College used Tri-C Day, April 4, its seventh annual day of pride and giving, to kick off its Diamond Jubilee celebration.

The public is invited to join Tri-C in honoring the college's history with a host of activities leading up to its 60th anniversary celebration in September, according to a news release.

In addition to the 24-hour Tri-C Day giving campaign, employees, alumni and community members helped raise money for student scholarships through anniversary collaborations with two of Northeast Ohio's food and drink legends.

Before Matt Fish went on to become the owner/founder of Melt Bar and Grilled, he earned a degree in culinary arts and hospitality management in 1997 at Tri-C. Fish opened the first Melt in Lakewood in 2006 and today operates nine locations.

In honor of Tri-C's anniversary, Fish and the Melt team created the Ultimate Chili Cheese Dog and the College Mac Daddy Dog to pair with Sibling Revelry's Triceratops IPA, named for Tri-C's mascot.

Both sandwiches have vegetarian and spicy options and are available only at the Lakewood, Independence, Mentor, Avon, Akron and Easton (Columbus) locations throughout April.

On Tri-C's Dine to Donate days — every Friday in April — , 20% of a Melt dine-in or carryout bill will go to the Cuyahoga Community College Foundation to support student scholarships, the release stated. Patrons must present a physical or digital flyer available at tri-c.edu/dineanddonate when ordering.

Then, in a collaboration with Sibling Revelry Brewing in Westlake, the Tri-C Foundation will receive 10% of Triceratops IPA sales throughout 2023. Sibling Revelry created this special IPA just for Tri-C to celebrate its anniversary and support student scholarships, the release stated.

The IPA is available in their Westlake taproom. The brew is also available at Melt Bar and Grilled as well as retail locations to be announced.
