In 2017, local choral directors collaborated on a unique learning opportunity for their high school choir students and created the first Tri-County Honor Choir with a $2,000 grant from the Ohio Arts Council. The Tri-County Honor Choir provides regional high school students who excel in choral singing an opportunity to sing advanced high school repertoire with an accomplished professional choral director, according to Michelle Muro, fine arts consultant for the educational service center.

Students learn advanced methods in musicality, technique and vocal production.

Concert preparation starts with each choral director introducing the music to their students and sharing part recordings for independent practice.

Ramsdell has conducted honor choirs and adjudicated large ensemble choral contests in Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Ohio and Pennsylvania. His research has been presented at state and national conferences of the American Choral Directors Association and state conferences of the Ohio Music Educators Association.Donations will be accepted in the lobby, before and after the concert, to help cover travel expenses for the Heidelberg University Concert Choir.
