Tri-County Honors Band to perform Sunday in Orrville

ORRVILLE − The 2023 Tri-County Honors Band will perform at 2:30 p.m., Sunday at Orrville High School. Admission is free.

Student musicians from Chippewa, Hiland, Hillsdale, Loudonville, Mapleton, Northwestern, Norwayne, Orrville, Rittman, Smithville, Triway, Waynedale and West Holmes have been named to the 2023 Tri-County Honors Band. Selection was based on the recommendation of the student’s high school band director and an audition.

Guest conductor will be Dr. Richard Edwards, director of bands at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware.

Edwards also is the coordinator for the music education program at Ohio Wesleyan University. He leads the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Marching Bishops, teaches Rock History and Conducting, serves as director for the OWU Summer Music Camp and maintains a schedule as a clinician and guest conductor.

The Ohio Wesleyan University Symphonic Wind Band, directed by Edwards and Dr. Chris Lizak, will also appear in the program with the Honors Band. Lizak is the assistant marching band director and instructor of percussion at Ohio Wesleyan University.

The concert is sponsored by the Tri-County Educational Service Center.
