Trial begins for man in killing of BPD lieutenant's husband
State witnesses began testifying Tuesday in the murder trial of a young man charged in the shooting death of a Baltimore police lieutenant's husband. The trial got underway for Sahiou Kargbo, 19, who was charged in February 2022 with first- and second-degree murder in the killing of James Blue III the month prior. Prosecutors identified Kargbo as the shooter and said they have witness testimony, surveillance video and ballistics test evidence to prove it. The defense claimed Kargbo is the victim of overzealous investigators working a case that hit too close to home. During cross-examination, the defense tried to paint the prosecution's witnesses as pro-police.
