Trial date set for Shanteari Weems, accused of shooting husband
Shanteari Weems appeared Tuesday morning in Washington, D.C., Superior Court for a felony status conference. The Baltimore County woman is accused of shooting her husband, James Weems Jr., on July 21 at a D.C. hotel over child sex abuse allegations at the day care she owns. James Weems Jr. was arrested, charged and denied bail last week. According to court filings, Shanteari Weems told police: "She didn't want to kill him. She just wanted to hurt him, but she does want to kill herself."
