Trial for Tyre Nichols’ family against city of Memphis reset

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The trial date for the civil lawsuit against the city of Memphis filed by the family of Tyre Nichols has been pushed back.

The federal jury trial will now take place on Monday, March 24, 2025. It was originally set for January 27, 2025.

Nichols died in January 2023, three days after he was pulled over and beaten by Memphis Police officers in a traffic stop.

The incident, which was captured on surveillance and body-worn cameras, made national headlines and led to criminal charges against several officers.
