Triathletes go the distance times three in Bear Triathlon

The Bear Triathlon on May 15 at Lums Pond State Park invited approximately 450 brave entrants to swim six-tenths of a mile, bike for 10 miles and run for three at the sprint distance or swim nine-tenths of a mile, cycle for 23 and run for six at the Olympic measure. Sprint winners were 17-year-old Ben Brown of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, in 1:05:13 and women's champ Kerry Hicks, 50, of Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania. Going the extra miles to win at the Olympic distance were Matthew Qiao, 32, of Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1:59:49, and female champ and second overall Ella Wolf, also 17, from Columbia, Pennsylvania, in 2:00:55.
