MARIS HAROLD: Eric was taken from his family, from this community, from us, too soon. Eric's life meant something. He is everything that I envision when I think about excellence in policing. Eric was kind. Eric was brave. And in the end willing to die to save others.

JARED POLIS: Officer Talley was the kind of man who went out of his way to brighten someone else's day, and was often the first to lend a helping hand to those in need.

ADRIAN DRELLERS: On March 22, 2021, Officer Eric Talley answered a call for help, in which he knew people were dying. He was the first officer on scene and courageously did what he had been trained to do. He saved lives. While the investigation is ongoing, I can tell you that many people were pulled out of the building alive after it was all over. From the time that Eric entered the store and confronted the suspect, no other civilian was hurt.
