If you have any spare glass vessels lying around and don’t know what to do with them, you can make them look like ceramic masterpieces with a simple hack that involves a mix of baking powder and paint.

TikToker @genevavanderzeil shares videos of what she deems #trashterracotta, aka taking what may be seen as trash (a simple glass vase or plant pot) and turning it into makeshift ceramics. Here's how it's done: Add a teaspoon of baking powder to a cup of paint and mix them together. The TikToker used acrylic, water-based interior paint for her vases. Next, apply the paint in sweeping strokes on the outside and inside of the vase. Let it dry, then add another coat of paint. Once that’s dry, place whatever you want inside of it or leave it empty.

In the comments, one TikTok user suggested applying the paint in a circle around the glass, so it looks even more like clay spun on a wheel. Another person wrote that they added sand to the mix to give the DIY a concrete look. "This is brilliant," another person shared. "I have some beautiful wall paint left over and didn’t know what to do with it."

You can easily do this with other items including plant pots, glass jars, wine bottles, and maybe even plastic water bottles. It doesn’t hurt to try to give any object a new life!
