Trick or treat and other Halloween events in Ashland, Holmes and Wayne counties

Halloween falls on Monday, Oct. 31. Trick-or-treaters will be going door-to-door looking for candy handouts in many communities. Here are times and dates for some of the events and trick-or-treating scheduled for the tri-county area.

Ashland County trick-or-treat hours

Downtown Ashland Costume Capers: Trick or Treat at downtown businesses 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25.

Ashland trick or treat: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.

Bailey Lakes: 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.

Jeromesville: 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.

Loudonville Halloween parade: 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, from Budd Elementary School; Costume judging follows in the Park National Bank parking lot.

Loudonville trick or treat: 5-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, downtown; 6-7 p.m. in residential areas.

Mifflin Township trick or treat: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.

Trick or Treat After Party, 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, St. Michael Lutheran Church in Mifflin. There will be hotdogs, Chili, treats, games, and a costume contest.

Troy Township/Nova: 6-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.

Maple Grove Church of the Brethren Fall Festival, 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 960 Township Road 964, Ashland.

Savannah: 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.

Sullivan: 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.

Here's when to trick or treat in Holmes County

Millersburg Eagles Halloween Parade, Wednesday, Oct. 26. Line-up will be behind the Holmes County Courthouse at 6:45 p.m.; parade start is 7p.m. Goblins, princesses and cartoon characters are welcome. Prizes awarded for first, second and third placea.

Boo in the Burg Ohio Wine and Craft Beer Tasting, 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Enjoy Halloween in a more adult style. The Ohio State football game will be aired in the Craft Beer tent. Tickets can be purchased on Event Brite https://www.eventbrite.com/.../boo-in-the-burg-ohio-wine.

Victorian House Ghost Guild will host self-guided ghost walks, 6-10:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Victorian House Museum.  No advanced tickets are being sold.  All ticketing is at the door first come first serve. The cost is $5 per person.  After your tour, you are invited to relax in our Castle Club next door where paranormal stories will be shared by Ghost Guild members.  The Victorian House has been investigated many times with recorded sightings and hosts private paranormal investigations and “Nights at the Museum” during the year.   Follow at: www.facebook.com/VHghostguild for updates on events and private tour information.

Woodland Avenue, Saybolt Avenue, McDonald Street, Emerick Street, McGuire Street and Western Drive: 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30.

Secrest Road, Point of View Drive, Woods Edge Court, Townsview Place and Perkins Drive: 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 .

A Ghostly Affair, Barnes Preserve Trick or Treat Trail, 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct 23, Barnes Preserve, 3396 Sylvan Road, Wooster. This fully accessible trick-or-treat trail is for children ages 4-11 with and without disabilities. Cost it $6 per participant. Trunk or Treat, 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, Church of the Cross United Methodist, 5100 Cleveland Road, Wooster. Included are crafts, activities and food. Free event.

Orrville

Fall Fest will be held at Orr Park 5-8 p.m. Saturday with trunk-or-treat at Heller Hall. There will be free hot dogs, chips and drinks, pumpkin-spiced coffee and donuts. the Northwest Trail walk includes stops at the library, Orrville Lions and Orrville Community Theatre Group. There will be a fire pit with s’mores.

Trick or treat: 6-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31.

Rittman: 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29

Shreve: 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29

Smithville: Pioneer Village Trick or Treat, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, Smithville Community Historical Society. Free hot chocolate and donuts! Free movie immediately following trick or treat, The Adventures Of Ichabod.
