Here's a list of Halloween and fall events happening in the area.

City of Alexandria will observe neighborhood trick or treating from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.

The City of Pineville states Halloween is not a city sponsored event but they recommend trick or treating during the daylight hours on Monday, Oct. 31. Respect houses that do not have the porch light on and do not approach their home. Motorists should be mindful of pedestrians.

Saturday, Oct. 22

7th annual Canines in Costumes

Compton Park on Wakefield Blvd.

Costume contest entry fee: $10.

Montgomery Animal Hospital + Hotel is hosting their annual costume contest for pets and children along with trick or treating for both.

Costume contest registration will be from 9:30-10 a.m. Judging starts at 10:15 a.m. Proceeds benefit The Wrigley Speaker Foundation. For more information call (318) 473-8177

Zoo Boo

Opens at 10 a.m. Last entry 4:30 p.m. Closes 6 p.m.Admission: $10 for ages 2 and up

Visit zoo animals while picking up treats along the way from local businesses. Includes children’s activities, Halloween displays, entertainment and more. Visitors can also see zoo animals enjoying Halloween treats. In the event of a weather cancellation, Zoo Boo will be rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29. The entire zoo will be open.

St. Rita Catholic Fall Festival

Fall Steam Up Festival

Southern Forest Heritage Museum and Research Center

Saturday: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday night dance 7:30-10 p.m. Sunday: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Admission: $10 per car

Demonstrations of model steam engines, free museum tours, pumpkin patch, vendors and food trucks. Gospel Gold Blue Grass will perform. Free pony rides. Train rides are $6 per person. Children 5 and under ride free.

Monday, Oct. 24

All Hallow's Eve Extravaganza

St. James Episcopal Church, 1620 Murray Street and Bolton Avenue

7 p.m.

Jazz artist and concert organist, Dorothy Papadakos, will improvise a pipe organ soundtrack simultaneously with a screening of the 1925 silent film, "Phantom of the Opera." Admission is free courtesy of The McCormick-Smith Fund, Inc. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.

Trunk or Treat at Rapides High

Rapides High School, Carter C. Raymond Junior High, Forest Hill Junior High and Poland Junior High School are hosting a trunk or treat with treats and games.

Murder Mystery Dinner Theater starring The Unusual Suspects

Doors open 6 p.m. for drinks and appetizers. Show starts at 7 p.m. Also includes a costume contest.

About the show: A comedy about The Ghost Chasers who show up to rid the restaurant of evil spirits.

16th annual Fall Family Festival

Admission: $1 per person.

Local businesses will have hand out treats at various booths. Hot Dogs, and drinks courtesy of Coca Cola will be served.

Alexandria Senior High School Track or Treat

Admission: $5 per child

School clubs and organizations will line the track to hand out treats and have games for children to play.

Atlas Howl-oween Yappy Hour

Bring pets dressed in Halloween costumes to take your own photos and to have the staff take photos your pets to upload on Facebook for a costume contest voted on by the public. The winner will receive a $25 gift card of their choice to Amazon, Petsmart, or Petco.

Certain rules will be enforced to ensure a nice time for all. If a pet shows aggression towards any other animal or human, or destroys anything, you will be asked to leave. Any rules not listed will also be enforced.

Dress up in costume and do the "Time Warp" while watching the movie. Winner of best costume gets a free T-shirt or a $20 gift certificate. Bayou Dawgs will be on site. Props allowed: newspaper, water guns, toilet paper, flashlights, rubber gloves, noise makers, confetti, party hats, bell, and playing cards. Recommended for adults and teens only. The fright trail through the woods will be darker and scarier than the normal trail.

Tickets are $1 each to play games or play all day with a $30 bracelet. Bingo cards are two for $1.

Festival includes a zip line, blow up obstacle course and bouncy house, Bingo, train rides, petting zoo, talent show and games. Vote for your favorite decorated pumpkin. Raffle winners announced at 3:30 p.m. Gumbo dinners are being sold.

7:30 p.m. Costume contest. Group ages: 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 and family. Must be present to win.

8:30-10:30 p.m. Movie night featuring "Hocus Pocus 2" with popcorn on the splash pad .

Country Day’s Monster Dash 5K & Fun Run

9 a.m.-noon

Annual Monster Dash 5K and one-mile Fun Run/Walk. This is a competitive 5K. Registration opens at 9 a.m. Race starts at 10 a.m. Top three males and females will be recognized. Trick-or-treating will be along the route of the one-mile Fun Run/Walk. Contests will be held for best costume, pumpkin and trunk or treat decoration. Community members, local churches, businesses, school organizations and teams will host a trunk or treat in the parking lot of B22Fit. Grove Street will be closed so children can walk to the town hall from B22 for hot dogs and treats.
