Marry Me Chicken, like a lot of recently viral dishes today, isn't a new recipe. In fact, it came about back in 2018. Delish first shared the recipe, and it got its title after a taste test by the publication's editors.

According to Delish, their editors started devouring this dish and "blurting out marriage proposal-adjacent praises for this creamy, savory chicken dinner."

Fast-forward to today, and people are raving about the recipe.

One person commented "Made it tonight — now in regular family rotation. Everyone loved it and so easy!!"

In fact, the first 12 videos that populate if you search for "Marry Me Chicken" on TikTok have over 93 million views.

One person said "I just made this and it's the BEST thing I've ever made! Family rates is 20/10!"

So from the comments and views alone, I didn't hesitate to see what the hype was about.

One person said "My hubby's best dish thanks to you" and another person said "I'm making this tonightttt....thank you". A third commented "o man!!!! that looks good"

To make Marry Me Chicken, you sear chicken breasts and simmer them in a rich, creamy sauce that features heavy whipping cream, chicken, broth, and sun-dried tomatoes — and it takes about 35–40 minutes to make, including prep!

Here is a video of the recipe process, and I will break down the recipe step-by-step below.

First of all, there are MANY different versions of Marry Me Chicken, so I took the main ingredients and tweaked them to make the recipe my own (plus, I added mushrooms!). Here is what you'll need:

A long list of ingredients, from 1/2 cup flour and 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts to buttered noodles and 1 tsp fresh basil

PS: If you're an entry-level cook, don't get intimidated by the long list of ingredients. It is really easy to make, promise!

In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and pepper. Then coat the chicken breasts in the flour mixture and set aside.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat, swirling to evenly coat the bottom of the pan. Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes per side. Transfer the chicken to a plate.

Melt the butter in the same skillet over medium heat, then add the mushrooms and garlic and sauté for about a minute, until the garlic is fragrant.

Reduce the heat to medium low, then add the chicken stock, heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, oregano, sun-dried tomatoes, red pepper flakes, and sugar. Cook, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.

Add the chicken into the skillet, cover, and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 10–15 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).

My verdict? This recipe is definitely worth the hype — and if you've ever had Tuscan chicken, it is very similar. I don't know about it being so good you'll fall in love with the person who serves it to you...but alas, a trendy name is probably what grabbed the attention of a lot of people and made it go as viral as it did! I would definitely recommend trying it!

(I would also recommend trying it with spinach, which I thought about after the fact.)
